First Step Down The Digital Rabbit Hole

Whenever I'm playing a game, I always find imperfections in either gameplay or story no matter how amazing that game is, and I would then complain about it directly to my sibling like he was the developer even though he wasn't. He would defend that game like he was, and we would argue all day long to the point in which every time I got to him by making a valid argument he responds with "Why don’t you create a better game then?". I got bored of that statement, so i set to take him up on that challenge.

I must admit I started out pretty cocky thinking the first game I would create would leave anyone who played it silent, but after I started learning a bit more it turns out that it was not as straight forward as it seemed. I downloaded the unity program thinking of the many games I played and then went to the tutorial I saved. Unity stores premade games that you can tinker with to learn the ropes and get used to your surroundings. Its overwhelming collection of customizability enables you to create both 3D and 2D games anyway you like, from a pixel game to a polygonal one. this was a commitment that I hope I am ready to take on.

going with the tutorial I learned that the UI showcases itself a bit like photoshop or blender, meaning that since all the options are visible on one screen it tends to be a bit nerve racking if most of it is basically another language.

I learned just how tedious it was to create a game. Following each step showed to me in the tutorial I basically made a pretend game(nothing in it actually works or moves, but it looks like a game.)

to create a game is a huge task that I hope to complete and this blog will record my journey throughout.
