Welcome back! In this weeks blog I'll be discussing the many shapes and forms that a regular shape can take in the Blender program. You can create a lot with just a cube, as Lego showed us many times, but it can be taken to a whole new level by just adding or adjusting the shape a bit. Lets take the human body for example, no shape is perfect and each one has its imperfections that make the glow from the crowd.
When entering the program, you are greeted with a plain cube, if you continue messing around-as I did- you'll find out the many bends and shapes that simple cube can turn into. By adding more vertices to it you can mold it smoother. For example, you can make a spherical cube using this method and the tool "Smooth".
By diving deeper, I realized that you can also change it specific needs. Lets say that you wanted to 3D print a plastic screw, to do that you must first create a model on a program such as Blender. The head of a screw can be created by the first tool mentioned, but what about the body? The body holds this unique sort of swirling shape, and this makes the job much more challenging. Wait, it doesn't! luckily Blender has a specific tool for that in object settings. By clicking on modifier, you can choose from a plethora of different ways to interact with your object. I chose, well, the screw modifier for this specific job. Here you can see the screw that I made in 5 min using the tools mentioned.
now its time for the final project of this week. by taking a regular plane object and using the tools and a few extra modifiers, I was able to create this DNA structure. I even amazed myself!
