Hey! Now that I'm done with my dungeon project, we will move on to my next obsession: architecture. Even though we live on the same earth, buildings can take many forms. From temples to towers, there is much variety in how we place our stones. Today, I'll begin with modern times, the staple NY building. This specific type of building is unique and yet simple in its design. It is also one of the most recognizable buildings I could have found. Unlike my other projects, we will base this on a reference I got from the internet.
To create the iconic New York building in Blender, I began by inserting a cube and started shaping it according to the reference image I found online. Using the reference as my guide, I adjusted the proportions and dimensions of the building to match its distinctive silhouette. The key was to pay close attention to the angles and overall symmetry of the structure.
Next, I moved on to detailing the windows, which are a defining feature of New York buildings. Referencing the image, I carefully positioned and scaled rectangular shapes to represent the windows along each floor. Ensuring that the spacing and alignment were accurate, I replicated the pattern throughout the building. To add depth and realism, I extruded the windows slightly to give them a three-dimensional appearance.
With each step, the New York building in Blender began to take shape, capturing the essence and character of its real-life counterpart. This project allowed me to explore the intricacies of architectural design, honing my skills in creating realistic structures within the digital realm. As I continued working on this project, I realized how architecture serves as a powerful form of art, with each building telling a unique story through its design and construction.
