The electromagnetic trolley is the unsung hero of the automated chessboard, a marvel of engineering nestled within the XY table. This component is the linchpin in the seamless interaction between the physical chess pieces and their digital counterparts.

At its core, the trolley houses an electromagnet, a specialized magnet that can be activated and deactivated by electrical current. This feature is pivotal, as it allows for the precise control of the chess pieces, moving them across the board as if by an unseen hand. The electromagnet's ability to create a magnetic field on demand is what sets it apart from permanent magnets, making it ideal for this application.

The engineering challenge lies in powering the electromagnet. The Arduino, the brain of the chessboard, lacks the power output necessary to energize the electromagnet directly. This hurdle is overcome by connecting the electromagnet to a separate electric current, which is then controlled by a power transistor. This transistor, under the command of the Arduino, acts as a switch, engaging the electromagnet only when necessary. This setup not only ensures efficient power usage but also adds a layer of safety and control to the system.

The inclusion of the electromagnetic trolley transforms the automated chessboard from a static display into a dynamic, interactive game board. It bridges the gap between the physical and digital realms, enabling the chess pieces to move with precision and purpose, guided by the strategic calculations of the computer or the commands of a human player
