I always found 3D art more immersive than the regular paint and brush since it was made to simulate the effects of real life such as shadows and lights on objects to make them seem more real than they are. games also contributed to my love of 3D like the most recent winner of the game of the year award Elden Ring is comprised of 3D characters, buildings, and terrain. I have always had ideas for cool looking castles or spooky yet mysterious houses so I decided to start teaching myself the ways of Blender.
First thing I did was familiarize myself the the UI and poke around a bit, I was surprised to find that one of the base models other than sphere, cube, and triangle is.... a monkey head?
after I understood where everything is I started creating. the first thing I sought to create was a table since it has all the basic shapes and corners that I would find easier replicating on this application. during the process I found out that there are tools to reduce, extrude, fold and more. by the time i was done I has the basic understanding of all the tools and began adding more objects to the table to challenge myself. the hardest of all was the cushions I made for the chairs since i had to indent it in a way that would make you think it had buttons that held it together. the end result is something i am proud of for a start.
I began a new file and started to create more of a full scene in which there are multiple things to look at, so I chose to create a room. A room contains a bed, drawer, bookshelf, and TV so I started to work on each individually first. the bed was tricky, I had to create a base- easy enough- then I had to create a mattress to place on top but as we all know mattresses are not perfect rectangles so I had to round it out to make it more realistic then I added the pillows and blanket. the rest of the items creations went smoothly and I got a product that looks unfinished.
I needed to add color and texture and when i did it will look like something out of Pixar. Hopefully. hope to speak to you then.
